Type, aroma and THC ranges come from public strain references and the partner listing; they are not lab results for a specific batch.
How to choose weed online
1. Start with the strain and its aroma. A strain name such as Blue Dream, Granddaddy Purple or Northern Lights points to a lineage and a typical aroma. On every strain page we list the commonly cited parents, the breeder credit and the aroma notes people report, so you can compare before you click Buy Now.
2. Treat indica, sativa and hybrid as shorthand. A 2021 study in Nature Plants (Dalhousie University with Wageningen and Bedrocan) found that the indica and sativa labels are poor predictors of a sample’s genetics and chemistry, and that two products sold under the same strain name were often as different as products with different names. Aroma is the most reliable part of the description: sativa-labelled samples tended to carry more fruity, tea-like terpenes and indica-labelled ones more earthy terpenes such as myrcene. Use the label to narrow the list, not to promise an effect.
3. Understand the grade. AAAA, AAA and AA are seller labels for appearance and trim — top shelf, premium and value. They are not an official standard and say little about potency.
4. Read THC correctly. Raw flower contains mostly THCA, which only becomes THC when heated. Labs therefore report “total THC” as THC + (THCA × 0.877); a sample with 28% THCA and 0.5% THC works out to roughly 25% total THC. Flower commonly falls between about 15% and 30%. The ranges on GG4 are what is commonly reported for a strain name; the tested figure for the batch you receive is on the partner shop listing or the lab certificate.
5. Compare price per gram. Larger sizes are usually cheaper per gram, but buy an amount you can finish while it is fresh.
Terpene cheat sheet
| Terpene | Smells like | Often found in |
|---|---|---|
| Myrcene | Earthy, musky, ripe fruit | Kush and Afghani lines, Granddaddy Purple |
| Limonene | Lemon and orange peel | Sour Diesel, Gelato and Cookies crosses |
| Beta-caryophyllene | Black pepper, clove, spice | Wedding Cake, GG4, OG crosses |
| Pinene | Pine needles, rosemary | Jack Herer, Afghan lines |
| Linalool | Lavender, floral | Cherry Pie, Fruity Pebbles OG |
| Humulene | Earthy, woody, hoppy | Often alongside caryophyllene |
| Terpinolene | Fresh, herbal, floral | Durban Poison, Jack Herer |
Use this table as a smell guide. Research on what individual terpenes do to the experience is still limited, and the “entourage effect” — the idea that terpenes shape the effects of THC — is described in a 2024 review as unproven, so dose, tolerance and the person matter more than the terpene list.
Judging flower when it arrives
- Look: dense, intact buds with visible resin; dull grey or yellowed flower is often old, and “bald” patches mean rough handling.
- Smell: a strong, distinct aroma when you open the jar, more complex when you break a bud open. Weak, dusty or musty smells are a warning.
- Feel: slightly springy and tacky. Brittle buds that snap are over-dry; spongy buds that feel damp risk mould.
- Mould: white powdery patches, grey fuzz or a musty smell mean do not use it. Mould can hide inside dense buds, so check the centre of a bud.
- Lab results: looks cannot show potency, pesticides or microbes — only a certificate of analysis can.
Storing weed
Use an airtight glass jar in a cool, dark place. Oxygen, light and heat break down cannabinoids and terpenes; one study cited by storage guides found about 20% cannabinoid loss after 40 hours of UV exposure. Guides suggest roughly 55–63% relative humidity. A two-way humidity pack holds it steady, and if flower feels too moist, open the jar briefly for a day or two to let it dry. Properly stored flower keeps most of its aroma and potency for months; noticeable change often starts around six months.

- Pre-Rolls — ready-to-smoke joints.
- Bulk weed — ounce packs for a lower price per gram.
Canadian rules in brief
The federal minimum age is 18, and provinces may set it higher: 19 in most provinces and territories, 18 in Alberta and 21 in Quebec. Adults may carry up to 30 grams of dried cannabis, or an equivalent amount of other products, in public; Health Canada publishes an online calculator for the equivalents, and provinces can add their own limits. GG4 is a catalogue, not a shop: Buy Now sends you to the partner shop, which handles checkout, payment and delivery, and it is your responsibility to check that ordering and possession are lawful where you live.
