Popular in Gummies & Candy: at a glance

Type, aroma and THC ranges come from public strain references and the partner listing; they are not lab results for a specific batch.

Choosing gummies

Gummies are the most popular edible because the dose is easy to split. Check three things on each listing: the mg per pack, the number of pieces and whether the active ingredient is THC, CBD or both. Our product pages work out the dose per piece when the partner states both numbers.

Dose maths, with examples

The packs below are examples to show the arithmetic, not listings.

300 mg1030 mg15 mg
500 mg1050 mg25 mg

For comparison, Health Canada’s guidance for people new to edibles is to look for products with 2.5 mg of THC or less. Cutting a gummy is a simple way to take less, but the active ingredient is not always spread perfectly evenly, so start low and wait.

THC, CBD and combined gummies

Read the label for each cannabinoid separately: a gummy marked 25 mg CBD contains no THC unless THC is listed, while 1:1 products carry equal amounts of both. Sour coatings do not change the dose, but heat can make gummies stick together, and uneven mixing means one piece can differ a little from the next — one more reason to start low.

Timing

Gummies are digested, so effects usually appear within 30 minutes to 2 hours and can take up to 4 hours to peak. Wait at least two hours before taking another piece.

Flavour, sugar and storage

Sours, fruit gummies, hard candy and ropes all work the same way. Sugar-coated gummies can stick together in warm places, so keep them cool and in their original packaging, and keep them well away from children and pets. CBD gummies contain no THC unless the label says so; check the label. See all edibles or chocolates for another way to portion. You must be of legal age in your province: 19 in most of Canada, 18 in Alberta and 21 in Quebec.

FAQ: Gummies & Candy

How do I work out the dose of one gummy?
Divide the total THC in the pack by the number of gummies. A 500 mg bag of 10 gummies is 50 mg a gummy.
How long do gummies take to work?
They are digested, so effects typically start after 30 minutes to 2 hours, can take up to 4 hours to peak and can last for hours.
Can I cut a gummy in half?
Yes. Cutting a gummy is a simple way to take a smaller dose; the active ingredient is not always spread evenly, so start low and wait.
Are gummies the same as other edibles?
They work the same way, through digestion, so effects are slower and longer than smoking or vaping.
How should I store gummies?
In their original packaging, cool and dry, away from children and pets.
