What is kief?

Kief is made of trichomes — the tiny resin glands on the flower — that fall off when flower is handled or sieved. It is more potent than the flower it came from and is used on its own, sprinkled over flower, or pressed into hash.

Kief, dry sift and hash

  • Kief — loose resin powder, collected with a grinder screen.
  • Dry sift — kief refined on graded mesh screens; high quality dry sift feels soft and flour-like.
  • Hash — that resin compressed into a solid block.

Using kief

Sprinkle a small pinch on top of a bowl or into a joint, or use it to boost edibles. Start with a very small amount. Store it airtight, cool and dark. You must be of legal age in your province: 19 in most of Canada, 18 in Alberta and 21 in Quebec.
