What is Kief?
The cannabis plant is covered in resinous glands called trichomes, which house THC, CBD, terpenes, and other chemicals. Trichomes appear to be crystals when they are dry and fall off the plant. Kief is created when these trichomes dry and break away from the plant. You can buy this product in our store.
Kief is usually darker than trichomes, ranging from gold to brown. It’s a powdery material that’s somewhat tacky, but not as so as trichomes on a bud. Kief is also known as “pollen.”
Grinders are used to break down cannabis into tiny, uniform pieces for rolling or packing bowls. Grinders usually include a separate compartment at the bottom called a kief catcher for this purpose.

When purchasing kief at a dispensary or retail store, keep in mind that brighter kief will have a lighter color. Kief that appears dark or green still contains some plant matter, whereas clean kief is more of an off-white color.
What Is The Best Way To Use Kief?
There are a few different methods to utilize kief for medical dosages, ranging from simple and straightforward to clever and inventive. Here are some of our personal favorites:
Add Kief To Your Bowl Or Joint
Adding kief to your smokable flower, whether it’s a bowl, bong, or joint, is perhaps the simplest way to consume it.
To add kief to your bowl or bong, start by packing the bowl halfway with flower. Add your chosen amount of kief (we prefer using a dab tool to easily scoop and spread it), then top with flower. By adding kief in layers, you ensure that the valuable concentrate is not burned before you get its benefits.
To add kief to your joint, simply grind up your flower as usual and spoon it onto your preferred rolling tray. Fill your cone or roll with the blended flowers, then stuff it.
When rolling by hand, you may add a line of kief along the flower for extra flavor, but it will certainly burn quicker than the flower and produce the ever-feared canoe or banana boat.
Add Kief To Your Dry Herb Vaporizer
Adding kief to your dried herb vaporization isn’t advised because the fragile crystals would slip through the mesh screens of a dry herb vaporizer, however combining it with flower is an excellent alternative. When you use the same strain bud and kief in your vape, adding flower adds potency and flavor to your vaped bud.
Make A Cannabis Snow Cone
Snow cones are one of the messiest yet most exciting activities you can do with cannabis. Simply put, they’re joints that have been drenched in distillate and rolled in kief. Snow cones are a more effective way to ingest cannabis than smoking because they offer a stronger high. To make this icy joint, you’ll need: a joint or pre-roll, distillate, kief, and a dab tool.
Roll a joint or fill your cone with your favorite cannabis strain. To warm the distillate, wrap it in a towel and gently squeeze it between your hands or bend your elbow to hold it in place. Paint the entire length of your joint with a line of distillate, starting from about 1/4 inch above the filter (this space is crucial). After you’ve coated the joint with distillate, add kief to the rolling tray and roll it in there, making sure all of the kief has been absorbed by the distillic acid. You’re ready to dose now!
Keep an eye on the distillate as you consume your snow cone; as the joint burns, distillate will begin to drip. The 1/4-inch of solely paper and flower used in this technique will come in useful for catching any excess distillate!
How to Smoke Kief
Now that you know what to do with kief and how to gather it, it’s time to learn about smoking it! You may use it for edibles such as cannabutter or infused oils, or put it in your favorite vape for a smoke-free option, but if you want to smoke kief, there are some great choices. Smoking kief is usually quite simple and enjoyable, and you may perform it with equipment that you are undoubtedly already familiar with if you are already smoking cannabis on a regular basis. Collect a tiny pinch and place it in your favorite pipe or bong for a little hit. Alternatively, to increase the strength and power of your smoke, “dust” a bowl or joint with extra kief before rolling it.
If you’re feeling brave, gather a lot of kief and attempt to roll an entire joint or blunt with it. This is a fantastic treat for a get-together because one puff on the joint will go far for everyone who receives it. Unless your personal tolerance is extremely high, we don’t recommend smoking one of these on your own.
Another enjoyable method to smoke kief is with the hot knife technique, which you may recall from your high school days. Simply heat up a knife on the stove and use the red-hot tip to press into another blade with some kief on it. Inhale the resulting smoke through a straw and have fun!
